6 Week Review - Part 1

6 Gameweeks in, I'm taking a look back at my performance so far (spoiler: it's not pretty) and look at where it's gone wrong (and the occasional place it's gone right).
Green/Red Arrows
After a fairly decent first week, bolstered by my late recall for Salah, and then captaining him on the opening day of the season, I've only had one green arrow. In GW5 after playing my wild card. I've also had 3 weeks failing to get to 50 points, which i consider the minimum to be considered not a disastrous weekend, culminating in this weekend where only Chilwell, Son and Wilson delivered more than 3 points.

Captaincy
Last season, getting my captain wrong was seemingly a weekly occurrence, and so i set myself a target to improve this. I'd aimed to get at least 65% of the available points boost from selecting my skipper right, and so far this season, I have 42 of the 92 points available, getting my captain choice right twice from the 6 Game weeks, so plenty of work to be done to reach this target.
GW1: Salah 20 points became 40 after his opening day hattrick. Best choice in my team.
20/20 points available
GW2: Aubameyang 5 points became 10 with an assist against West Ham. Son (also in my team) scored 24 points with his 4 goals against Southampton.
25/44 points available
GW3: Jiminez. 0. Double 0. He continued his goalscoring form.... but it was in the wrong net. Callum Wilson top scored in my team with 8.
25/52 points available
GW4: Jiminez. Surely he won't let me down again. Well he improved, but still only got 2 points (doubled to 4). Again, Callum Wilson top scored from my team with 16.
27/68 points available
GW 5: Son. 13 Points turned into 26. Best choice possible from my team.
40/81 points available
GW 6: Salah. 2 points turned into 4. Son top scored for me with 11.
42/92 points available
Getting the starting 11 right
Another key to maximising your FPL output is not to leave points on your bench by having your subs outperform your starting 11.
GW1:
GK Sub - Walton 0
Sub 1 - Ceballos 1
Sub 2 - Walker-Peters 1
Sub 3 - Ayling 0
Lowest scoring starter - Alexander Arnold - 1.
No missed points.
GW2:
GK Sub - Walton 0
Sub 1 - Adams 1
Sub 2 - Ceballos 8
Sub 3 - Walker Peters 3
Lowest scoring starters - Doherty 0, Ayling 1, Saint-Maximin 1
10 missed points.
GW3:
GK Sub - Walton 0
Sub 1 - Podence 0
Sub 2 - Ceballos 0
Sub 3 - Lamptey 4
Lowest scoring starters - Jiminez 0
4 missed points.
14 throughout the season.
GW4:
GK Sub - Walton 0
Sub 1 - Doherty 0
Sub 2 - Ceballos 3
Sub 3 - Ayling 2
Lowest scoring starters - Alexander Arnold - 1, Lamptey 0
6 missed points.
20 throughout the season.
GW5:
GK Sub - Steer 0
Sub 1 - Brewster 1
Sub 2 - Ayling 1
Sub 3 - Justin 2
Lowest scoring starters - Bale 1
1 missed point.
21 throughout the season.
GW6:
GK Sub - Steer 0
Sub 1 - Brewster 1 (Auto Subbed in)
Sub 2 - Ayling 6
Sub 3 - Justin 6
Lowest scoring starters - Bale 0 (Auto Sub), Lamptey 1, Grealish 1, Calvert-Lewin 1,
10 missed points.
31 throughout the season.
Obviously you're never going to get your subs right, and in the right order every week, but I'm averaging over 5 points per GW being left on my bench. That's disappointing
Part 2 of my review will include transfers I've made, and the affect they've had on my team, a summary of my mini-league performance and a look ahead at GW7.
