6 week review - Part 2

Part 2 of my season so far review looks at my transfer strategy, and my mini-league performance so far.

Remember when I was outlining my strategy for the season, I said how last year I made changes too early and cost myself points? It appears I’ve done the same again this year.

I’m actively costing myself points!

Inspire by this weeks episode of Fantasy Football Scouts Scoutcast, I logged on to wwe.game-change.co.uk and discovered the disappointing fact that if I’d simply set my team up as I did for GW1 and walked away from the game, I’d be 43 points better off. I’m actively costing myself points!

Disappointing to say the least.

Looking at my transfers by game week,

GW2. Banked

GW3 Podence (didn’t play) and Lamptey (who I put as 3rd sub) came in for Saint Maximin and Holding.

GW4. Mahrez (2) in for the supposedly injured Son, who scored18 points as Spurs ran riot at Old Trafford. GW5. Wildcard. I spent most of the international break chasing value before settling on my current line up. Some moves have been clear successes such as Martinez in for Ryan, Chilwell coming in, and bringing Son back in. Some moves I consider myself to have been unlucky with, Grealish for instance has two blanks, but had a shot cleared off the line against Leeds. Similarly my Gareth Bale gamble could’ve paid off instantly as he should’ve scored against Burnley (I think this experiment is over btw. GW7 transfer/a to be posted later).

In terms of mini league performance there are two leagues which I consider my main competition, ran by a guy I play cricket with.

One is your traditional league, which I’m currently in 8th position in.... if I’d have simply been a zombie team, I would be top....

The traditional big hitters in this league are all struggling too, so far this year.

We also have a head to head league, which by the fortune of the fixtures draw I’ve managed to scramble into second place, winning 5 and losing 1 of my games so far, being on the right end If a couple of close ties. I even managed to win last week with just a measly score of 38!

So at least there are some positives from the 6 weeks so far.

Heres hoping GW7 can be more fruitful for everyone!
