Beware of the Tinkerman

A few changes have been made to my line up, as I wasn’t happy with a few players, and/or their fixtures, and a few transfers have piqued my interest.

In come Matt Doherty, James Justin, Tyrick Mitchell, Alain Saint-Maximin and Neil Maupay.

The main reasons for the moves were to get in Doherty, and improve on my third striker as I was gambling on the Brewster to Sheff Utd rumours. Doherty is an FPL machine with 144 and 167 points in his two seasons in the game, and I expect another decent season from the new Spurs Right Back. Granted at Wolves he played as a wing back, rather than a genuine Right Back he’s likely to be at Tottenham, but last seasons incumbent of the role, Serge Aurier, played a very advanced role last season under Mourinho and ended up with 7 assists, which bodes well for Doherty.

James Justin is a cheap way into a solid Leicester back line whilst Ricardo Pereira is out injured, and the fixtures are promising, whilst Tyrick Mitchell is another temporary injury replacement, whilst Patrick Van Aanholt is out for Palace. At just £4m it’s a gamble which allows me to strengthen elsewhere.

In more advanced roles, I’ve replaced Christian Pulisic (I may revert this eventually) with Newcastle’s mercurial Alain Saint-Maximin. I was tempted by him in the Soucek/Pereira roles at just £5.5m, and he could well still stay in even if I do bring Pulisic back in.

And with Brewster not getting the transfer I was hoping for, and Koop suggesting he could be involved from the bench vs Leeds, I’ve opted to go for Neil Maupay as my third striker. I liked Maupay last year, and am expecting him to continue to improve with a full season at this level now under his belt.
