First Draft

i think I’m fairly happy with my first draft, especially as the blank GW1 has been confirmed for the Manchester clubs. But we all know there’s bound to be plenty of tinkering throughout the next few weeks, ahead of the season
GK: Matt Ryan
I had been hoping that Ryan could be this seasons set and forget keeper... but after seeing their first few fixtures I’m beginning to question this. Their only 2 home games in the first 5 fixtures are against Chelsea and Man Utd, so whilst save points could be on offer, I can’t see many clean sheets being kept
GK: Fabri
Cheap bench fodder, from a club that I’m not looking to have 3 players from at any point in the season.
Def: Ruben Vinagre
With Jonny our injured for 3 or 4 months, Vinagre looks to be first choice LB for a strong wolves defence. Things could change if Wolves sign a left back.
Def: Luke Ayling
Scored 4 goals and set up another 5 for Leeds last season, and whilst they will face a different class of attack this season, they kept an impressive 22 clean sheets last season. What’s not to like for £4.5m
Def: Trent Alexander-Arnold
No is explanation necessary. Joint 4th highest scorer last season and still only £7.5m. Sure you can save a little cash by trading down to Van Dijk or Robertson, but Trent takes free kicks and scores more than both of them.
Def: Ben White
Another that may change, depending on transfers. Classy defender, but where/if he moves could play a big part on my thinking. At £4.5m if he gets a good move then he could be an excellent pick up
Def: William Saliba
Arsenals defence improved significantly once Arteta took over, and Saliba likely time come in to the starting line up. Another £4.5m risk, but if they come off, then we‘re in business
Mid: Mo Salah
Another that needs no introduction. Only outscored by Kevin De Bruyne in terms of last years points total.
Mid: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
First name on my team sheet as soon as he was reclassified as a midfielder. If he was classed as a midfielder last season he’d have gotten 230 points. Add in the recent improvement for Arsenal since Arteta took over and he could be in for a bumper season
Mid: Christian Pulisic
One of the stars of the PL after the restart, I was expecting him to be priced higher than he was this season. Will need to keep an eye on his injury status however
Mid: Thomas Soucek
3 goals in 8 games after the restart, a good option as a 5th midfielder at just £5m
Mid: Matheus Pereira
i must admit, I’m not keen on potentially having 3 players from newly promoted clubs (if Ben White to Leeds pans out) but Pereira’s stats from last season have tempted me. 8 goals and 16 assists in 42 games in the championship. Even if he gets half of that this season it’s still and excellent output for £6m
Fwd: Raul Jimenez
Since starting the post, I’ve seen that Juventus are after Jimenez. Whilst that shows the quality he possesses, it’s a worry that I could be looking for a replacement if he was to be sold. Wolves’s fixtures to start the season look tasty too
Fwd: Timo Werner
Werner seems set to be a regular in the Chelsea line up, and it’s hard to see him playing a wide role after Abraham fell out of favour at the back end of last season. Chelsea creates lots of chances for Giroud/Abraham last season, and Werners record suggests he’ll score plenty if offered the same service
Fwd: Rhian Brewster
I’m banking on a loan to a Premier League team here, otherwise it’s a foolish waste of a Liverpool player as he won’t play. The rumoured move to Sheff Utd seems perfect for him and I think if he goes there, or anywhere else and plays regularly he will be a great 3rd striker option
