GW32: An Old Favourite returns

With the news of Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing tonight’s game vs Spurs, I’ve decided to take a 4 point hit otherwise my squad was looking quite light in terms of bench options, and I feared that any sort of unexpected rotation could leave me with the likes of Dan Burn coming off my bench... and that thought petrified me as Brighton take on Chelsea this gameweek.

To replace Calvert-Lewin, I’ve gone back to a trusty old favourite of mine, and gone for the fit again Callum Wilson.

Wilson returned to action as a substitute in Newcastle’s victory over Burnley, and he looks set to capitalise on Newcastles new found attacking approach to games as they battle against relegation.

Over the last 4 gameweeks, Newcastle have the highest xG (expected goals) in the league at 6.87 and are 5th in the league in terms of total attempt, suggesting they’re creating a high volume of high quality chances which is an excellent recipe to add in a lethal finisher like Wilson.

With the magpies taking on West Ham this week, who are suddenly leaking chances, and are further weakened by the injury to Aaron Creswell, then it looks an ideal fixture for Wilson to get back amongst the goals.

Wilson also loves a goal vs West Ham. He has 8 goals in 9 appearances against them, scoring more goals against the Hammers than any other side in his career.
