GW4: 5-A-Side

After Gameweek 3 saw FPL Poet take top spot in our 5-a-side hall of fame, with 39 points, we are joined by one of my favourite content creations in the FPL world, Peterson from @FPLSideNet.

FPL sidenet is an Australian FPL podcast, infused with Pete’s love of FPL, the world of film, and Ferran Torres, and with 2 previous top 10k finishes under his belt, Peterson’s musings are well worth checking out.

Peterson also appeared on this weeks Fantasy Football Scout, Scout the Gameweek podcast. Another of my weekly listens, and this can be listened to here

Here, Pete reveals his picks and the thought process behind them.

GK Hugo Lloris: Spurs this season have been solid at the back, and up against a Crystal Palace side that are still trying to establish themselves under new manager Patrick Viera, I can’t see much changing.

DEF Aaron Cresswell: West Ham have been the ‘entertainers’ so far this season. While they haven’t kept a clean sheet yet, I’m expecting things to change this gameweek against Southampton. But it’s the appeal of attacking returns with Cresswell who offers so much going forward and could easily add to his 1 goal and 1 assist he has already accumulated this season.

MID Mason Mount: Mason Mount is not just the future, but he is the present. As a Chelsea fan myself, I light-up whenever he gets the ball because he can make things happen. He loves taking a shot from distance too, and with Emi Martinez missing for Villa, could bode well for him. Not to mention having a big target man in Lukaku to play off and link with.

MID Mo Salah: Leeds are yet to reach the standards we saw of them last season, and a tricky tie against Liverpool before their fixture turn could add salt to the wound. The Egyptian King scored a hat-trick against Leeds on the opening day last season, and I back him in to continue scoring here.

FWD Cristiano Ronaldo: Being the first contributor to these great articles with the opportunity to select Ronaldo is too good to pass up. A homecoming against a Newcastle side at a packed Old Trafford has all the trademarks of a day out for Cristiano. Not to mention Newcastle have conceded a penalty in every league game so far this season. The question isn’t ‘will Ronaldo score?’, it’s ‘how many?’.

Its hard to argue with any of the logic expressed by Peterson, but will his boys be able to overhaul @FPL_Poet at the top of our standings?
