GW6: 5-a-side

Romelu Lukaku’s first blank of the season cost me the chance of taking top spot in my own competition last week as I scored 36 points. This week, I am joined by another of the Fantasy Football Scout Academy members as FPL Rabbi takes the hot seat.

Ever since his debut season in 2016/17, FPL Rabbi has partially succeeded in not overthinking FPL. As a Shabbat-observing Jew he treats every weekend deadline as a Friday deadline, and he has managed three consecutive 0.5% finishes.

His Twitter page, in three languages (English, Hebrew & Spanish), documents his FPL season; from being helplessly addicted to a differential attacking-fullback option to taking too many hits.

FPL Rabbi is also part of the FPL podcast Doubtful – 75%⚠️ (מופיעים בספק) which is available on YouTube and across all audio platforms. In this first of a kind video podcast recorded in Hebrew, the Rabbi, alongside Omer and Avihay, look back at their FPL Gameweeks and talk through their plans.

Read the rabbi’s picks and his thoughts behind each of them below.

GK Edouard Mendy:

Might come as a surprise but I think this will be a cagey match. If Chelsea keep a clean sheet, he could be in for a haul.

DEF Virgil Van Dijk:

Liverpool look very solid at the back and he’s always the areal threat from set pieces. Could be another CS on the cards for LIV and VVD could be the main man once again.

MID Ismaila Sarr:

After his 15 pointer away to Norwich Sarr looks like he could hit another haul vs a leaky Newcastle defence.

MID Said Benrahma:

With Leeds’ open approach, missing defenders, West Ham’s fire power at the counter and Benrahma’s attacking position, I can see him in for a big score this GW.

FWD Jamie Vardy:

Burnley look woeful and Vardy seems like he’s finding his rhythm. We all know he’s very streaky player so there every chance he scores this weekend.

Rabbi becomes the first person this season to omit Mo Salah from his selection this season, targeting some of the weakest defences we’ve seen so far this year with his midfield spots. Will this pay off?
