GW9: 5-a-side ft FPL Family Sam

Following on from FPL Linn joining FPL in the dugout in 3rd place with 35 points in GW8, I am delighted to welcome Sam from FPL Family to take on the 5-a-side challenge this week.

Along with her husband Lee, Sam has a unique brand of inter family rivalry, with their weekly YouTube show being one of my must watch FPL content each week.

As well as the FPL Family channel, Sam is a regular on the FPL show, and hosts weekly podcasts videos on the Fantasy Football Scout channels, with Scout the Gameweek, and a weekly Q&A with FFScout_Az.

Below, Sam reveals her selections and reasoning for each pick, and it’s clear to see her Spurs allegiance shining through.

Jose Sa - In the absence of Patrick Bamford, Leeds have looked poor going forwards which bodes well for defensive returns for Wolves. We have seen in previous Gameweeks that Sa has the potential for additional points from saves and bonus points if the clean sheets hold, and of course he has some attacking threat too 😉 (Sa recorded an assist in GW6 vs Southampton).

Cesar Azpilicueta - Norwich have still only managed two goals in the Premier League so far this season, and although they have been better defensively in the last couple of weeks their attackers haven't looked like returning. This suggests that the Chelsea clean sheet is likely. With rotation galore and doubts still surrounding Rudiger, I think Azpilicueta is the best pick - especially with his attacking threat too.

Mohamed Salah - Salah has registered 4 goals in his last 4 games in all competitions vs United and is currently on the best form of his life. With returns in seven of the eight gamenweeks so far he looks set to continue his form against a Manchester United team who have the second worst defence in the league in the last 4 Gameweeks based on xG and xGC data.

Son Heung-Min - Spurs have finally started to find some rhythm over the last few games in all competitions winning the last two in the Premier League as well as in the league cup and the UEFA Conference. Over the last two Gameweeks Son has the best xG across all the midfielders in the game (including Salah). Son has returned two 13 point hauls as well as a 6 pointer in the last four Premier League games against Gameweek 9's opponents West Ham.

Harry Kane - This was Romelu Lukaku's spot, however the injury in the Champions League means FPL managers are looking for new options. With Kane finding the net and looking much more like his former self against Newcastle I'm backing him alongside teammate Son this weekend. Kane has returned in three of the last four matches against West Ham and could be a great earlier investment with many managers looking to make a move for him from Gameweek 12 anyway.

Will Sams loyalty to her beloved Spurs boys be repaid? Can she wrestle the top spot away from FPL Poet? Lets see what GW9 has in store
