What a week

With it semingly being the longest gameweek in living memory, I thought I'd take a look back of the big things that have happened this week.

European Super League

Whilst I'm not sure there's much that hasn't been already said about this, the cynic in me can't think that the timing of the announcement (and the quick fire demise) was simply to overshadow the Champions League reform and take the heat away from that. The footballing world seems to have missed that the "Big Teams" now have extra protection in the way places could now be offered in the champions league on Historical Merit, which I don't agree with.

Mourinho Sacked

It was unexpected timing to say the least, coming 6 days before a cup final, but i think we all knew it was on the way. Mourinho doesn't seem to have changed with the way the modern game has, and whilst he initially gets results, it always seems to unravel in a dramatic fashion.

It was no surprise to me to see Bale back in the side last night, scoring and Spurs winning. The way Bale has been in and out of the side under Jose baffled me, and whilst I dont think the Welshman has helped himself in that respect, it also looked like Mourinho was trying to hold him up as a scapegoat for some of his own failings, especially after the North London Derby.

Another player it'll be worth keeping an eye on in the closing weeks of the season could be Dele Alli.

Mendy vs Kepa

This one has already had a knock on effect to my FPL team. Kepa played in the cup semi-final last week, and was rewarded with another start (delivering another clean sheet in the process) against Brighton in the league. I was getting fed up with Mendy anyway, so have decided to replace him with Meslier as Leeds defence appears to have solidified in recent weeks, and after facing Man United at the weekend, they end the season with some nice looking fixtures.

It will be interesting to see what tomorrows UEFA meeting brings in terms of the rebel super league clubs. With them all signalling intent to withdraw, will it be a non-event, or will UEFA still look to
